Custom Decks are renowned for their exceptionally high-quality decks and walkways, many of which are built on steep slopes on the coast and in sensitive ecosystems such as forests and fynbos.
Decks Our carefully engineered decks ensure that all safety standards are met and comply with the minimum flex of the bearers and joists – we don’t do ‘bounce’ on our decks! Custom Decks uses Balau or other hardwood timber as the decking option which is ideally suited to the coastal region. These timbers require no maintenance as they have their own natural oils, and will weather to an attractive silvery-grey colour.
For our substructures, we use Grade 5 H3 CCA pine, treated for external use, and stored under shade-cloth on-site to prevent warping. Connecting bolts and screws are stainless steel to eliminate rusting in the coastal climate, ensuring a long, strong life for your deck or walkway. Decking with stainless steel cable in handrails Walkways Custom Decks specializes in dune walkway construction. Over the years we have perfected the technique of sinking poles to a depth of over 3 meters, without digging a large hole. The poles are sunk by an auger and watered in, ensuring they are immovable. This is an extremely environmentally-friendly method, causing the least possible damage to the sensitive dunes and surrounding habitat. The Views boardwalk in Wilderness Interior Flooring Hardwood flooring is renowned for its natural beauty and durability and harmonizes well with any architectural theme or interior design. It is an excellent choice to create visual continuity for homes with open floor plans. We utilise both hardwood and engineered flooring materials (usually a 3-6mm veneer on a plywood base), depending on the client's requirements. We also create planter boxes out of the same materials to complement the floors and decking, to create a seamless and integrated feeling to the overall design. Interior flooring Construction & Project Management Custom Decks also provides services in the conventional construction arena (homes, offices, and industrial buildings), specializing in woodwork such as ceilings and partitions, as well as wooden fencing. We offer full project-management to interior design projects, where Custom Decks is responsible for the sourcing of material and contractors, and installation of all décor elements.
